When did I turn into my mother-in-law?
I went to bed last night around 9:00 p.m. (again). Between going to bed at that time and waking up early, I’m starting to feel like my mother-in-law. She turns into a pumpkin and will sometimes fall asleep in her chair by 9:00 p.m.
Before I turned out the light, I had a moment of panic. My right leg is in bad shape. The bruising from my fall is almost gone, but I’ve developed a red rash on my shin along with unexplained bruising on the both sides of my right foot. The top of the foot is also bluish in color. I have a little numbness in my toes and a lot of edema in the foot and ankle. I don’t know what it all means, but it worries me…especially since my blood pressure was really high on Friday, which is also very unusual (I always have perfect BP). Could it be one of the new medicines my doctor put me on right before I traveled here? Or could it be a combination of the heat, humidity, and ingesting more sodium and/or MSG than usual? I think I will email photos to Dr. Mona to see what she suggests. I may need to make another trip to the hospital to see a doctor here. While reading before bed, I did elevate my legs against the wall, so the edema isn’t as great this morning.
I slept until 7:30 this morning, but was waking up every couple of hours last night. I was only up about 15 minutes when the power in the hotel went out. I heard a boom, so I’m guessing that a transformer blew. The outage only seems to have affected the rooms and hallways, though. The elevators still worked and the lobby and dining room had power. It was out about an hour before coming back on. I’m glad it wasn’t longer, because without the air conditioning, my room was starting to become hot.
I have no plans until dinner tonight. Layla texted me to see if I wanted to go to MBK with her. I’ve bought so much already that I need to get another bag for the trip home, so I passed. I think I’ll just take it easy, keep elevating my leg, and determine later whether I will go back to the hospital.

I went out at noon to get some lunch and found a Chinese restaurant (see my review). The rest of the afternoon, I just chilled in my room with one trip downstairs to get a foot massage. It was so relaxing that I fell asleep and woke myself up with a snore (how embarrassing). Now I’m drinking tea, listening to the radio stream over my computer, and killing time until dinner when I meet all my new TravBuddy friends.
Wow…I dropped off some laundry at noon and I got it back already! That was fast!

Tonight I got to meet many other Travel Buddy members at a meet-up at the Seafood Market and Restaurant. It didn’t matter that we came from different countries and cultures. We were just friends having dinner and some drinks. The internet has really made the world smaller…I now have many friends from all over the world!
The restaurant is different from any I’ve been to. You first got to the “market” and buy your seafood, vegetables, etc….whatever you want to eat for dinner, pay for it, and take it back to your table. The you tell them how you want it prepared. I bought a large lobster, two huge tiger prawns, some clams and some cockles (which I have never eaten before) as well as a package of vegetables to stir-fry. I spent more than I intended…about $97! And I still needed to pay a cooking fee! I had them broil my lobster and prawns in butter. The cockles were steamed and the clam were stir-fried with spices and basil. I didn’t much care for the cockles. Everything else was really good, but I wish I had some melted butter to dip the lobster in. I also had a beer. My total for the cooking fee and drinks was about $20. Even though I spent a lot, it’s not like I do that all the time. It was worth the experience.
Tomorrow we’re to meet up for the water fights. I am going to try to stay dry (yeah, right) and take photos instead of participating in it myself.
