I bought a new ebike!
This past Wednesday I bought the Rad Mission. It’s a slightly cheaper bike than the Rad Runner I bought in March 2020 and it looks more like a real road bike. The Runner weighs in at around 65 lbs without the battery. The mission feels like in comparison at only 40 lbs. You would think that would mean it’s easier to get on the bike rack, but not really. The larger wheels make it taller, so I have to lift higher.
Today, I took my inaugural ride on the Mission. I had done a short test ride at the showroom, but that was only around a block. Today’s ride was 27.4 miles.
I didn’t love the kit seat, but it wasn’t as bad as I feared. My butt wasn’t sore when I finished, but I didn’t like the way I slid all over the seat. I just ordered a Cloud-9 seat to see if I like it better.
The ride itself was wonderful, even though the temperature was in the high 30s. The Mission handled like a breeze and I was able to maneuver it around turns much easier than the Runner. It was like upgrading to a Porsche after riding a tank for over a year! I even felt more comfortable going downhill, hitting a high speed of 31mph (I usually keep it under 25mph downhill on the Runner).
Like the Runner, it’s a single speed, which is great for someone like me who hates to mess with gears.
If the Mission had been available when I was shopping for an ebike in 2020, I would have gotten this one to begin with!
