Gorge Ride 2022

Gorge Ride 2022

I had a lot of fun last year riding the Gorge Ride so I decided to do it again this year.

As I did last year, I rode by myself.

It was a bit chilly, so I was glad I had packed bike tights and a long sleeve jersey.

At about four miles into the ride, something was running towards me fast. At first I thought it was a dog, but as it got closer I saw that it was a pot-bellied pig! It ran across the road in front of me and down into some tall grass on the other side. Too bad it happened too fast to get a photo!

Not far into the ride was the climb to the Rowena Overview. I easily did it last year with my RadRunner, but wasn’t sure how the RadMission would handle it since its motor is much smaller (only 500v versus the Runner’s 750v motor). I did ok, though. A little winded until I got to the top, but well worth it for the view!

The first rest stop was a smorgasbord! I ate cherries, watermelon, cantaloupe, banana, and mixed nuts. I didn’t eat it, but they also had PB&J sandwiches, cookies and pretzels. The rest stop at the turn-around point was good, but they lacked the cherries.

On the way back and before the Mosier tunnels, I stopped to take some wildflower photos. They were everywhere!

After the ride, I had the long drive back to Seattle.
