Cross-Country Road Trip Day 11

Cross-Country Road Trip Day 11

I spent a lazy morning waiting for Haylee to get up since she had such a long day yesterday. Once they were up and had breakfast, we took MJ to the state park to pay on the playground for a bit.

I dropped them off at daddy’s house and ran to the grocery store for the impromptu Sweger barbecue I organized at the last minute for this evening. I was excited to see some relatives that I hadn’t seen in a very, very long time! Daddy grumbled about all there was to do, but I think he was secretly pleased to have so many relatives at his house – a first for him!

Cousin Gloria showed up with her son, Darren, who I hadn’t seen since he was a little boy at his dad’s funeral. Cousin Bob came (the one I hadn’t seen since 1976). Other cousins who were there included Brenda, Ethan and Troy Fry; my brother Billy and nephew Ryan; and my nephew Kyle. MJ was running all over the place…he was so excited and having so much fun that he got too tired and had trouble staying asleep, at first, that evening.

After just about everyone had left, Gloria’s daughter, Dawn, showed up with her daughter and three grandkids. My heart nearly broke when the 9-year old boy came up to me and asked where the food was. I couldn’t believe that they hadn’t had dinner and Dawn was expecting food after 9pm at night! I was glad I still had some fruit and popsicles left, so at least they had a little something to tie them over.

It was so good to see everyone and I was delighted to introduce Haylee to our family. She felt very comfortable with everyone and loved meeting them.
