Revel Revolution
Revel Revolution: Peace, Pedals, and Perspiration
Cascade Bicycle Club’s new event ride, Revel Revolution, had me flashing back to the groovy vibes of the ’60s and ’70s. So naturally, I went full flower child. Picture this: a long red wig perched over my bike helmet (because safety first, even for hippies), a headband that matched my dress, peace symbol bling dangling from my ears and neck, and round sunglasses that screamed “I might break into a Beatles song at any moment.”
I was a rolling time capsule—until the hills hit. The ride wasn’t long, but those climbs had me questioning my life choices (and my costume layering strategy). By the halfway rest stop, I was sweating like I’d just danced through Woodstock. So off came the wig, the dress, the accessories—stashed with the kind volunteers—and I finished the ride in my trusty bike shorts and t-shirt. Less groovy, more gritty.
Still, it was a blast. And hey, nothing says “revolution” like pedaling uphill in peace earrings.
