On The Road Again – Part 4

Heading Home

With tears in my eyes, I said good-bye to daddy and drove away, watching him wave through my rearview mirror. It was July 10th and I was heading to Lancaster to pick up Wanda and head back to Seattle.

Our route was mostly the same as our trip east except we were going to drive through North Dakota instead of South Dakota. We got a lot of rain along the way and the trip back was a bit of a blur as we drove through one state to the next.

It took five days to get home and I was exhausted. After dropping off Wanda in Lakewood, I couldn’t wait to fall into William’s arms. But that would have to wait until the next day, as he was in Wenatchee. That was one of the loneliest nights as I laid in bed and trying not to think about maybe not ever seeing my daddy alive again.
