Grays Harbor Tour

Grays Harbor Tour

I went with Cascade Bicycle Group on their Grays Harbor Tour on the peninsula. This was a three day bike tour and I camped at Lake Sylvia State Park. I had reserved an electrical site so that I could recharge my batteries each night.

I arrived the day before the start of the tour and set up my campsite. It was right near the lake and quite large. Actually, I spent the first night at a regular site and moved to the electrical site the next day (it was right behind me so I could drag my tent over). After setting up my tent, I went on a short bike ride on some dirt trails around the park. Alas, my bike could handle most of the trail, but without shocks on my fork, it was too rough to continue. There are times I wish I had a mountain ebike so I could really explore some off-road trails!

The next morning we rode from Aberdeen to Montesano (where I was camping) on a big loop. This included a section that went past a memorial for Kurt Cobain, who grew up in Aberdeen.

On day two of the tour, I rode from Holquim to Twin Harbors and back, opting for a the shorter route that day. Along this route, which was almost the same as Reach The Beach, I stopped at the Mermaid Museum and the Westport Winery (where I picked up gifts for family). I also walked through their gardens and admired the many art pieces.

For day three of the tour, I decided to drive home instead of riding. I was a bit tired and didn’t want to push myself to exhaustion.
