My adventures are as diverse as my friends. I'm an advid long-distance bike rider, cook, author, artist, volunteer, mother, grandmother, and wife.

🚴💛 STP 2026 Reflections Now that I've had a littl 🚴💛 STP 2026 Reflections

Now that I've had a little time to recover, I've been thinking about what made this year's Seattle to Portland ride so memorable.

❤️ Things I loved:
• The incredible cycling community. Whether it was a conversation at a rest stop, a fist bump while riding, or hearing someone call my name as they passed, I was reminded over and over that STP is about people as much as miles.
• The amazing volunteers who worked tirelessly to keep thousands of us moving.
• Mild weather! Compared to the last couple of years, Mother Nature was definitely on our side.
• The wonderful hospitality at Bethel Church. The food, friendly volunteers, and easy overnight accommodations made it one of my favorite stops.
• The mats covering rough railroad tracks. Such a simple thing that made a huge difference.
• The excitement from riders and the communities that lined the route to cheer us on.
• The famous banana bread couple in Napavine. Their tradition has become one of my favorite STP traditions, and I was thrilled to present them with a Top Banana Award (which got more decorations on it as the day went by).
• The unofficial neighborhood pop-up snack stands. Families handing out ice water, cookies, popsicles, and encouragement are what make this ride so special.
• The challenge. Every STP tests me in different ways, and that's part of why I keep coming back.
• The smiles. Everywhere.
• And finally... crossing the finish line while volunteers and fellow riders cheered every single cyclist across. It never gets old.

🤔 Things I didn't love:
• The air conditioning at Bethel Church running all night. I don't think any of us expected to need winter gear indoors! 🥶
• The frozen roast beef sandwich at the Lexington lunch stop. It was completely inedible and ended up in the trash.
• Those pesky root bumps on the Yelm-Tenino Trail.
• Carrying the extra weight of spare e-bike batteries all weekend. They gave me peace of mind—but they certainly didn't make the bike any lighter!

Thank you to everyone who made STP 2026 such an unforgettable adventure.

😂🚴 Apparently I'm too tired to fall asleep... I t 😂🚴 Apparently I'm too tired to fall asleep...

I thought I'd be out the second my head hit the pillow after riding 206 miles, but instead I found myself admiring one final STP souvenir...

My STP tan! 😆☀️

Those crisp tan lines don't happen by accident—they're earned one pedal stroke, one mile, and one sunny day at a time. Every cyclist knows that a good ride eventually fades... but the tan hangs around a little longer as proof of the adventure.

Now if only my body would get the memo that it's time to sleep! 😴

Goodnight from one very tired (and very tan) cyclist. Tomorrow, the recovery begins.
