Let's give those potatoes and beignets their momen $Let's give those potatoes and beignets their moment in the spotlight, too! Here's the revised post. Comfort food, happy bellies, and AMAZING volunteers! ❤️🍽️ Today's lunch at the Wallingford Community Senior Center was a BIG hit! On the menu:\ 🥘 Turkey meatloaf (and yes, even I loved it, and I'm usually not a fan of turkey meatloaf!)\ 🥔 Asiago cheese potatoes\ 🥦 Roasted cauliflower topped with shredded cheddar\ 🍫 Mini chocolate hazelnut beignets, generously dropped off yesterday by Patricia Pronesti! A little kitchen improvisation made things even better. No ketchup for the meatloaf? No problem! I substituted tomato sauce, then mixed tomato sauce with honey for the topping. Sometimes the best recipes come from making do with what you have! Everyone raved about the meal and said it felt like good old-fashioned comfort food. Mission accomplished! But today's real superstar was my exceptional volunteer, **Andrea Willimetz!** 🙌 Andrea didn't just help with today's meal. She peeled and separated all the mandarin orange segments for tomorrow's salad AND peeled and cubed all the russet potatoes we'll need for Thursday's baked potato soup. That's a whole lot of prep work taken off my plate (pun intended)! 😂 Being the kitchen manager (aka chef) is a lot easier when you have wonderful community volunteers pitching in. I'm discovering that building a great volunteer crew is just as important as planning a great menu. **Want to be part of the fun? Come volunteer with us!** You don't need to be a professional chef, just bring a willingness to help, a little enthusiasm, and a smile. There's plenty to do, and you'll make a real difference in our community. Sign up for a volunteer shift here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F094CACAD22A0FE3-67056319-wallingford# Come cook, prep, serve, laugh, and help make lunchtime something special! ❤️ #WallingfordSeniorCenter #CommunityVolunteers #ComfortFood #VolunteerSeattle #CommunityMatters$
