My adventures are as diverse as my friends. I'm an advid long-distance bike rider, cook, author, artist, volunteer, mother, grandmother, and wife.

🎤🚲 **Guest Speaker Outfit Dilemma!** 🚲🎤 Tonight I 🎤🚲 **Guest Speaker Outfit Dilemma!** 🚲🎤

Tonight I’m the guest speaker at a bike club event, and while everyone else will be dressed casually, I decided to kick my outfit up a notch. 😉

Now I just have to make the *really* tough decision…

**Which outfit do you think looks best on me?** 🤔

The **burgundy jacket with black boots** or the **brown jacket with brown boots**?

Help me choose! 👇

Apparently, my legs have decided they are NOT fans Apparently, my legs have decided they are NOT fans of fall. 😂🍂🚲

Today was Cascade Bicycle Club’s Ride Leader Ride & Social. The forecast said low 70s, but the morning started out foggy and CHILLY. I figured I’d be fine in bike shorts and knee socks. After all, only my knees and lower thighs were exposed. What could possibly go wrong?

Well… apparently my legs had other plans. 😳

I rode from home to the clubhouse, and once I got inside and started warming up, my legs became EXTREMELY itchy. I looked down and—HOLY MOLY!—my legs were covered in red hives. 🦵🏻🔥

Thankfully, there was Benadryl in the first-aid kit, so I popped one and started Googling my symptoms while waiting for our ride to begin.

Turns out I had apparently developed COLD URTICARIA—basically, cold-induced hives. Because apparently getting older wasn't enough… now my skin has opinions about the weather. 🤣

My legs stayed bright red for most of our approximately 21-mile group ride, but thankfully the Benadryl did its job and took away most of the itching. Four hours later, the hives are finally calming down, although my legs are still sporting a little evidence of this morning's adventure.

The good news? The ride itself was absolutely beautiful. Once the fog lifted, it turned into a gorgeous fall day for riding. 🍂🚲

And then came the REAL reward: TAMALES! 🌽❤️

We were treated to tamales from Frelard Tamales, which used to have a walk-up window just a few blocks from my house. They moved to Fremont, and I haven't had one in a couple of years.

Oh. My. Gosh.

They were every bit as delicious as I remembered. 😋

So today's lesson:
🌡️ Cold weather? Apparently dangerous.
🚲 21-mile bike ride? Totally fine.
💊 Benadryl? Hero.
🫔 Tamales? Absolutely worth the risk. 😂

Another day on the bike, another unexpected adventure. You just never know what your body is going to come up with next!

**Has your body ever thrown you a completely unexpected curveball while you were out riding? Tell me your weirdest cycling story!** 😂👇
